although i'm only of teenage years, i've come to realize how my generation has morphed such beautiful and meaningful words into something so much more ugly, unattractive and so much farther then what they were originally meant for.
take the word 'Love'. for example, Saved By The Bell... when i watch this show, it's a BIG DEAL when zach wants to tell a girl he loves her, he got nervous, had to think about the perfect time.. i mean, how cute would it be to know the boy you like got nervous and had been thinking about it for DAYS before he told you he loved you? CUTE! a boy that just throws it around.. yeah, not so much. oh and, zach knew the girl longer than 2-3days.... minutes, haha.
seriously though, what possesses teens to say i love you after the first day? this is how i think it goes:
dude that will end up breaking your heart: *comments on picture on facebook* "hott"
girl that has no clue that we all feel sorry for: *likes comment* ...*texts or tweets or whatever all her friends what happened*
dude that's getting impatient: *IM's you on facebook* hey (; we should talk in person, you seem chill..(; ~it's dumb i should even be giving you this TIP: when a guy uses a lot of smileys.. it usually means he's into you. don't act like you didn't notice...
girl that's dumb enough to respond: serriously(: you seem pretty chill yourself (; ~it's dumb i should even be giving you this TIP: if you aren't into him DON'T RETURN THE SMILEYS. i mean, HELLO CAPTAIN OBVIOUS.
*next day*
-they chit chat-
..later that day
*both get on facebook*
dude that's ready to make his move on you: hi (; it was nice talking to you (;
girl that's clueless: same here (;
*talk about inside joke that happened*
dude that's going in for the kill: i think you're really pretty and amazing and i feel like i can talk to you about anything and i've never felt this way before about a girl and i really just wanted to know if you'd like to go out?
girl who's so "gaga-ed by the idiot boy: yes <3 <3 <3 <3 (; (: :D *love love love*
dude: i love you (:
girl: i love you too <3
*girl updates facebook status* "00/00/0000 (current date) <3 i love you"
yep.. cause that sounds like an awesome story to tell your kids when they ask how mommy and daddy met.
I just feel like everyone could do so much better then they already are, seriously. Plus, you're just teenagers (most, this could be for adults too).. you have a full life to live. Love will come your way, promise. Not so sure about when you're 14... but it will.
Love doesn't mean Love anymore. i thought love meant you wanted to be with that person, you would give up anything for them, wouldn't do anything that could anyway hurt them.. now it's just something we say. it's meaningless.
something to think about: if the word is being thrown around like a potato, then when i get married and i tell my husband i love him.. how will he know i'm being serious? most of you would say, "well, you're older now" so.. what's this age you hit that you automatically "get it?" cause inquiring minds (like my own) want to know.. and with that being said, who says adults aren't like this? i see adults throwing the "L" word around all the time and it's not like people don't see it either (shout out to Ann Davis!). ,maybe some people just don't get it, a hit or miss kinda deal. if that's the case, there's a lot more misses then hits in the world.
anyway, i'll most likely write more on this. maybe not... tell me what you think.
Love the reference (: Looking forward to reading more!
